You can register for MPrep through your phone or through the website.
Through SMS: If you are a student, send an SMS with the word “Start” to 8512 from
a Safaricom line. If you are NOT a student, send an SMS with one of the words below,
depending on who you are:
- Teacher = Teacher
- Head = Head Teacher
- Parent = Parent of a pupil
- Official = An education official that oversees many schools (i.e. AEO, DEO, MEO)
- General = You are not any of these and want to take quizzes
I’m sending an SMS to 8512 and nothing is happening. Why?
You can only use Safaricom for our SMS services.
There are rare times when the server experiences lag times. Be patient and try a new SIM if
you want to continue quickly.
Your SIM card may be deactivated. This happens if you don’t register your SIM.
After you register, MPrep will suggest quizzes for you. SMS one of those “quiz codes” to
8512, and we will send you the first question in a quiz. Respond with A, B, C, or D. In an
SMS. Wait until MPrep responds back with an explanation. A quiz is over after 5 questions.
You must finish a quiz in order to go to a new quiz.
Can I start a new quiz if I have not finished the quiz I am doing?
No. You must finish the quiz you have started.
Can I search for quizzes on SMS?
Yes! SMS the word “Search” to 8512.
